RC goes online in Kerala today; Copies for download to Digilocker, MParivahan are available

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala will introduce digital vehicle registration certificates (RC) from Satuday after the successful digitization of driving licenses. The state has updated the software so that applicants can download their RCS, whereby digital copies are also available via the mobile apps of the central government, digilockers and MParivahan.

In addition, they are now being issued digitally, which were not detached due to disorders when printing around 10 LAKH -RCs.

These certificates had been delayed due to problems in the Kakkanad printing center, which temporarily stopped the operation due to an outstanding payment of approx. 10 billion rupees.

The company responsible for printing the cards was not paid for its services, which led to a complete printing assignment

In the meantime, the government has decided to completely switch to digital RCS. While this change eliminates the need for physical maps, it does not offer the vehicle owners any financial benefits, since the service fee has been increased to compensate for potential losses in revenue.

This approach reflects the earlier change to digital driving licenses that were also made after the finance department insisted that the government should not lose any income from the transition.

The new digital system also deals with long -term problems for vehicle owners.

Before that, the applicants could not complete the application process for an RC without a printed certificate. This led to delays and made it difficult for individuals to submit inquiries for other services, including ownership broadcasts. The change is expected to relieve these problems, in particular the second-hand car market.
