Sheffield Wednesday, 1.-2, Sunderland: Eliezer Mayenda gives black cats win

The head coach of Sheffield Wednesday Danny Rohl told BBC Radio Sheffield:

This game has shown a bit of everything in the past few weeks, two major injuries in key moments, a slightly assigned goal, many missed possibilities and two moments when they do not make the right decision.

“At the moment it is really difficult to take because I see how much my players invest.

“The first goal was bad, but the second goal was bad, bad, too easy. At the moment we are destroying our hard work with a single moment and that is difficult for the team.”

The head coach of Sunderland, Regis Le Bris, told BBC Radio Newcastle:

“It was important to give the team energy, even if it was not easy to play football because the field was difficult for both teams.

“It was more of a question of energy, engagement, the connection with the team and the resistance. Even during the game, we collected the equalizer and it was important to stay in touch and find a solution for a goal, so it is good news for us.

“Wilson has made himself really well this season and is certainly one of the best strikers in the league.

“But we need two or three strikers to be competitive in this league, so it might be the right time for Wilson to recover a little, and Eliezer was ready.”
