Wait that Trump-Zelensky meeting saw a dramatic flareup

Washington:

Everything seemed so good to run. Then things stayed between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky wrongly wrong.

In a few amazing minutes, a diplomatic photo option in the Oval Office, which was supposed to be a step on the way to peace between Ukraine and Russia, took place in a blazing series that makes Kyiv's fate hang in balance.

Despite the tensions after Trump's latest public relations work in the Ukrainian feud, Russia – and his Zelensky, as “dictator” last week, had managed to hit a warm tone in the first 40 minutes.

As two former television personality, both knew how to play with the cameras. They shook their hand. The ex-reality TV star Trump, Trump, joked gently over Zelensky's outfit, a less military shirt than the Ukrainian war on war.

The former comedian Zelensky in the White House to sign a deal about rare minerals and keep Trump on the side, kept things off while they sat down on armchairs side by side and asked questions.

Then things suddenly exploded.

What followed was perhaps one of the most extraordinary scenes that were ever played in the Oval Office, the holy heart of the presidency, in which the US leaders have been organizing their foreign colleagues for a long time.

'Disrespectful'

It was Vice President JD Vance who illuminated the touch paper for the collapse of relationships.

Vance rejected his growing role as an attack dog for Trump and accused Zelensky of not being “grateful” for the support of us when the Ukrainian leader questioned his demands for “diplomacy” with Moscow.

“I think it is disrespectful that they come to the Oval Office and argue about the American media,” said Vance on a sofa near the two guides.

When the temperature rose, Zelensky fell his arms and asked Vance whether he was ever in Ukraine, and asked the Vice President to blame Zelensky to accuse “propaganda tours”.

But then it was Trump's turn to get involved.

When Zelensky said that despite an ocean of Europe, they “feel it in the future” if they didn't help Kyiv, Trump was outraged.

“Don't tell us what we'll feel,” said Trump, increasing his voice.

Then the locks opened.

All tensions that have been bubbling since Trump spoke on February 12 to Russian President Vladimir Putin – and not behind closed doors, but at the full view of the world media, including AFP journalists.

“They play with the life of millions of people. They play with the Second World War and what they do is very disrespectful in this country,” said Trump.

Red and angry and angry, Trump wagged Zelensky with his finger as his voice rose higher. At some point he pushed Zelensky's upper arm slightly with his hand when he scored his points.

“Great television”

For Zelensky, it was ambushed when the Ukrainian, rugged Ukrainian attempt kept trying to make his points while Trump insulted him.

“Please, you think if you will speak very loudly …”, he said to Vance before Trump jumped in.

“He doesn't speak loudly,” said Trump.

When Zelensky asked if he could answer, Trump continued: “No, no, you spoke a lot. Your country doesn't win.”

The US President – Long Skeptical Support by the USA for Kyiv – then dealt with a litany of complaints about Ukraine.

Trump even expressed solidarity with Kreml Chief Putin.

“Let me tell you Putin gave a damn good amount with me, he went through a wrong witch hunt,” said Trump, referring to an investigation during his first term whether his electoral campaign had worked with Moscow in 2016.

When the collision continued for around five minutes, reporters desperately filmed and knocked their phones and knocked on their phones, while a Ukrainian diplomat buried their heads in their hands.

“You will either make a deal or we are outside,” said Trump, making it clear that this violation was real.

Finally Trump called on a stop and journalists were accompanied.

About an hour later, Zelensky left the White House abruptly and a mineral signing was canceled.

The collapse of US support for Ukraine against Russia had played in real time at least for the time being.

In Moscow the Kremlin rubbed his hands and came to Trump's “restraint” against “dirty bag” Zelensky.

But for Trump, always the political showman, some instincts die hard.

“It will be a great television, I will say that,” he said when the meeting was completed.
