Vladimir Putin can afford to lean back and watch events

The drama on Friday in the Oval Office triggered a rapid reaction of many world leaders.

But not from Vladimir Putin. So far there was no comment from the Kremlin leader.

On the other hand, he doesn't really have to say anything. President Putin can afford to sit back and watch events.

Donald Trump predicted that public spit with President Zelensky “would be a great television”.

There is hardly any doubt that Vladimir Putin, the dramatic spectacle of Volodymyr Zelensky, the chairman of the state president Putin, will have enjoyed the “show” and was insulted by the President and Vice President of the United States to the media of the world.

However, some Russian officials commented on events in Washington.

In a contribution on social media, former President Dmitry Medwedev, now deputy head of the Russian Security Council, wrote that President Zelensky had “received one blow in the Oval Office”. He asked the United States to stop military support in Ukraine.

How Moscow would welcome that.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, wrote in Telegram, praised Trump and JD Vance for their “miracle of reluctance” not to meet the Ukrainian president.

It is a sign of the new world in which we now seem that relationships between US Ukraine, while the relationships between US Ukraine are exposed to the implosion, applies to the opposite of the US Russia ties.

In the past few weeks, Trump and Putin have spoken on the phone and undertook to work closely together. At some point there will soon be a possible summit. The talks between the United States and Russia under lower level to reset relationships and to discuss potential economic cooperation have already started.

President Putin has dangled the carrot of lucrative joint projects with the Americans with minerals and aluminum production.

The effects of a collapse of relationships between Ukraine and the USA may be very serious for Kyiv, but very positive for Moscow.

If the river of American weapons to Ukraine stopped, it would be much more difficult for the Ukrainians to defend themselves against the Russian armed forces who have entered their country, even if Ukraine enjoys solidarity and strong support from European leaders.

For some time now, Moscow has believed that the war in Russia's Ukraine has gone away. The call match in the Oval Office has this view.
