The neighbors of the Delmont Community hope that shooting on Friday will no longer trigger violence

Richmond, va. – A Richmond community, in which three weeks of consistent violence were seen last summer, makes headlines again on Friday after a shootout. Neighbors tell CBS 6 Crime Insider Jon Burkett that they hope that the recent incident is not the beginning of another strip of violence.

According to insider sources in crime, a man drove the East Ladies Mile Road when he was shot on Friday afternoon. Then he drove to a location in North Avenue, where he called for help.

His injuries were not life -threatening.

Virginia Roberts was nearby when the shots sound. It was a painful memory of Roberts that lost her son 31 years ago.

“I lost my son in 94 for murder. He was murdered in front of Fairfield Court. I go through every day. I only wish he was here. He was 56 yesterday,” said Roberts.

The shootout occurred in an area in which several people were shot in a period of three weeks last May.

“It is rough! I'm finally glad that we have security here because it is too much. I mean, people live out here. Cars are being shot and all the stuff. Hey, we don't need that,” said Roberts.

A Facebook viewer commented on Burkett's contribution about the shootout and said: “Whoever did that, know that two balls are lying through my house and one through my aunt's car. Two to nine children are usually at this point, have fun and live an innocent life. An innocent life ended up in front of my mother's bedroom door.”

Anyone who accepts information about the shootout on Friday is asked to call crime stopers at 804-780-1000 or with the P3 app.
