Off-Duty Boston Police Offer

A police officer in Boston in Boston shot a man in a Back Bay Chik-Fil-A-restaurant in which the police ran into two other people with a knife.

“The person … tried to stab the two people involved,” said the police commissioner of Boston, Michael Cox, just a few hours after several callers shot a person in the 500 blocks of the Boylston Street shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

“The off-duty officer identified himself as a police officer and instructed him to drop the gun, and at that time the person did not comply with,” continued Cox. “At this point, the person released his weapon to stop the threat, and … The armed person was taken to a local hospital in which he was pronounced (dead). The off-duty officer was brought to a local hospital for evaluation. “

COX said that an investigation by the district prosecutor of Suffolk County, Kevin Hayden, is carried out, who said at the scene that it was an active and ongoing examination at that time.

He said that his team under the direction of the office's murder director interviews a large number of witnesses that “work together with the examination” and checked a large amount of video surveillance material from in and around the restaurant.

“We have reason to accept – strong reason to assume – there were other people who were here who saw something and possibly involved,” said Hayden. “We ask you to step forward. We need the help of everyone who knows what happened here … in this very chaotic situation. “

The non -servant officer, who was not named, was praised by Cox and Mayor Michelle Wu for his fast actions, of which they say they saved saved life.

“We are proud of our officers who activate themselves, be it free of charge or free of service to save lives,” said Cox.

At the same time, each of them expressed his condolences to the died man.

“My condolences and all of our thoughts are with the family of the individual, whose life has been lost,” said Wu.
