Athletics of Florida State University

Gainesville, Fla. – junior Tommaso Baravelli Program No. 18/25 in Florida State Swimming and dive broke on February 27 to March 1 in Gainesville, Florida, in the Florida State Swimming and diving.

Selected swimmers represented the seminols at the three-day meeting of the last chance against Florida in the O'Connell Center Natatorium from UF to improve their best times and qualification brands for the NCAA championships in March.

Baravelli swam the 200 yard breast in 1: 52.37 to break his own school record by 0.72 seconds. In November he swam number 1 in the FSU history in 1: 53.09. Swimming on Saturday was the first time that a seminole in the event broke 1: 53.00.

This weekend too, fifth year David Quirie swam 19.88 the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle in 42.82.

Baravelli in the 200 breast and quirie in 100 freestyle both improved their NCAA B qualification brands.

The post-season competition continues with the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships from March 8th to 12th in Auburn, Alabama. The NCAA championships are from 19 to 22 March (women) and from March 26th to 29th (men) on Federal Way, Washington.
