Updated 10:30 p.m. 3/1: The New Hartford police said they were called to the shootout on Saturday afternoon at 12:45 p.m. The officers immediately entered the shopping center to address a potential active shooter. Officers found a male victim who suffered several gunshot wounds. The security of the mall had already started to provide the victim first aid when the officials arrived. Buyers and employees in the shopping center were asked to protect themselves, while members of the U -Bahn -Swat team carried out a sweep and evacuation of the shopping center. The New Hartford police were able to confirm that this was not a random act of violence and that a single victim was targeted by a single suspect. There is no immediate threat to the public. Anyone who has witnessed this shootout is asked to call NHPD under (315) 724-7111. The shopping center will be reopened on Sunday at 11 a.m.

New Hartford, NY – The police are responding to a reported shootout in the Sangertown Square Mall in New Hartford.

A city of New Hartford tells New Schannel 2 that a person was shot and taken to the hospital.

The New York state police say that this is not an active protective situation. However, people are asked to keep away from the shopping center.

The police are looking for a suspect.

Pyramid Management officers published an explanation of New Schannel 2, which says: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and family. We are too sad about this senseless act of violence. We are grateful for the immediate reaction of law enforcement authorities. Our greatest priority is the security of our guests and all employees of the shopping center. We offer a safe environment.”

The shopping center will be reopened on Sunday at 11 a.m.
