Akasha Davis puts Lamar Women's Hoops on the Senior Day victory on the back record of Lamar.

Akasha Davis wrote history at the Senior Day and broke against the Lamar University's background record when the Cardinals won a 69-60 victory against Mcneese in the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena. The victory also won number 2 for Lamar at the upcoming Southland Conference tournament.

Davis needed six rebounds to exceed the previous record of the Cardinals Hall of Honor member Carolyn Ford, scored 11 rebounds and scored 17 points with high heights and marked their 12th double double of the season.

Sabria Dean, whose series of 135 consecutive games ended in the starting line -up on Saturday, contributed 14 points and four steals. T'aaliyah Miner recorded her first double double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Jacei Denley added 16 points.

The cardinals shot 34.3 percent from the field compared to Mcneese's 37.9 percent. Lamar used free throws, made 21 of 26 attempts and made McNEese 50-38. The cardinals also benefited from 39 banking points and 12 steals.

All five seniors started for Lamar, with Bergmann achieving an early influence by blocking a shot and beating a three pointer. Denley came from the bank and scored six consecutive points and helped Lamar a 12: 6 lead. The cardinals ended the first quarter with 18 to 14.

Shortly before half-time Davis secured her record-pattern 1,053. Career bumper when Lamar 32-26 led. Despite an McNees rally in the second half, Lamar had control over the third quarter by 50: 42.

In the last quarter, Dean scored eight points and helped Lamar to expand his lead to 13, two minutes. Mcneese managed to close the gap to seven, but Denley's free throws sealed the 69-60 victory.

Lamar will complete his regular season against Texas A & M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday at the American Bank Center, whereby the game is overturned at 7 p.m.
