Fire destroys the family home with 5 children, threatens the house next door in a Portland

Portland ore. (KPTV) – A family in the northeast of Portland lost their house on Friday evening and several pets through Portland Fire & Rescue.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., firefighters reacted to a house in Northeast 108th Avenue and the Knott Street. Pf & r said that three adults and five children were able to get out of the house unharmed with the family of the family. However, a cat and several kittens died in the fire.

Scott Haas lives next door and said the fire also damaged his house.

“When I passed the kitchen, I only saw a flame wall in front of my kitchen window,” said Haas.

Haas said he stayed away late Friday evening to read and then heard a strange sound from the outside.

“It actually sounded like someone would break into my car,” he said. “I heard the pop and then I heard broken broken.”

When Haa's ascent to investigate, he found that the flames had burned the fence between the two houses, melted its surveillance camera outdoors and smashed his kitchen window.

“I was a bit in panic because I was sure that it would start fire,” said Haas.

After calling 911, Haas and his wife quickly collected a few important objects and then evacuated their home. Thanks to a quick answer from Pf & R Haas said that the crews could prevent the fire from spreading to his house.

Haas said he was happy to see that his neighbors could all escape from the fire unharmed.

“Everyone came out of the house, okay,” he said. “That was my biggest concern.”

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this point.

According to Pf & R, the Red Cross was called to help the displaced family.
