Franz has record performance at E8 Indoor athletics championships

Utica, NY – Senior Ciarra Franz Had a record on Saturday at the Empire 8 Conference Indoor Athletics Championships in the Todd and the Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center at Utica University. As a team, the cardinals took fourth place with 90 points.

Franz took first place, bound her school record and conference, meet and facility records at the 60m hurdle event of women with a time of 8.82. She tied her performance for the event for number 17 in the nation.

Franz also earned a place on the podium in the 60m fittings board and took third place with a time of 7.88. First semester Makenna Manson (fourth place, 7.94) and Abigail Dorunda (Sixth place, 8.03) took fourth and sixth place in the event.

Other meet highlights

  • Junior Caitlin Voloshen broke the school record in the 800 -m run (2: 18.27).

  • Newcomer Brianne Hurlburt Set a personal record in the 800 -M run (2: 19.8).

  • Junior Olivia Greinell Lay a personal record for the 3000 -M run (10: 35.69). This time was the second best women in the program history.

  • Junior Jazelle Mcintyre Set a personal best and recorded the second best brand in the program history in the weight throw (15.46 m).

  • Newcomer Kathryn Hillyard Placed second and your personal best in the high jump (1.63 m).

  • Fisher's 4×400 relay team from Grace Wright, Emma WrightPresent Sophia LeachAnd Dorunda took third place and set a program record (4: 00.57).

The qualification of the cardinals will take part in the ITHACA COLLEGE in NCAA regional on the ITHACA College next Friday and Saturday.
