The good and bad of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 Lecks

At the moment it is developing into a mixed bag. It looks like we are another year with familiar designs, but at least some of the technical upgrades are exciting – at least for one of the phones. The other? Not so much.

We are still in the rumor mill for both phones early, so everything has to be taken with a lot of skepticism. Assuming that these leaks are a more precise insight into what will come could be a frustrating year in 2025 to be a Samsung fold fan.

Let's start positively. At first glance, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 does not look like a massive revision of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. And that's because it is not. However, there are enough changes here that I am more interested in the phone than a week ago.

Perhaps the biggest upgrade of the Fold 6 is the display size. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 supposedly has an 8.2-inch interior display much larger than the 7.6-inch screen on Z-Fold 6. An 8.2-inch display would be on a folding fold as the largest screen and even beat the 8.1-inch panel on the Oppo-FIND-N5. Although Samsung has reduced the inner screen settings every year, it has the same measurement of 7.6 inches since the Galaxy Z folds 2. A jump to 8.2 inches would be significant.

And even with increasing display size, Samsung is on the right track to make folds 7 significantly thinner than the fold 6 – allegedly only 4.5 mm thick, if it is open, compared to 5.6 mm for its predecessor. Although the Oppo find N5 would still have the crown as the thinnest foldability in this class, it is not a small performance of Samsung from Samsung. The cover display can also receive a bump and possibly run from 6.3 inches to 6.5 inches.

Also impressive is the rumored 200 megapixel primary camera, which can finally replace the aging 50 megapixel camera, which is used in FALF 6 (and FALD 5 and FALD 4 before him). The main camera of the Fold 6 is not bad, but it is also nothing special. The Z fold was long overdue for a new primary comrades. To hear that we get one on Fold 7, it is exciting.

What is not so exciting? We are probably looking at unchanged battery and charging specifications, which means that a 4400 -MAH battery and 25 -W cable charging speeds. Not only the exact technical data we have had since Fold 3, other leaflets also blown Samsung from the water. The Honor Magic V3 has a 5150 -MAH -AKKU and a 66 -W cable load, while the Oppo -Fund N5 has a 5600 -mah battery and an 80 -W cubbery -and both are thinner than the Z -Fold 7 thicknesses, which has reported 4.4 mm or 4.2 mm.

The overall design does not differ much from the last z -fold generations. While I am less concerned about myself as a stagnating battery and charging specifications, a fresh layer of paint is long overdue.

Since Samsung allegedly makes effective changes to the FOLD 7, this certainly means that similar attention is paid for Z Flip 7 … right? Unfortunately it doesn't look that way.

As with the FOLD 7, Samsung is expected to enlarge the Flip 7 displays with the 3.4-inch cover screen and the 6.7-inch inside screen from the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and increase it to 3.6 inches or 6.8 inches on the flip 7.

This is easy to see, but in contrast to the potentially class -leading screen size for the FOLD 7, this would still provide the Flip 7 far behind the competition. The Motorola Razr Plus (2024) of last year not only has a larger 4-inch cover screen, but the resolution, the brightness and the update rate are miles in front of the flip.

The Z Flip 7 has reportedly improved camera sensors, although the extent of these upgrades is unclear. Like the Flip 6, the flip 7 should have a 50 megapixel primary camera and a 12 megapixel -ultrawide camera. The potential for new sensors is promising, but I hesitate how impressive you get the identical sounding setup.

And that was also for the flip 7. There are no expected changes to the battery capacity, the load speeds, the RAM or the memory. I don't know anything about you, but that doesn't sound so promising.

It is worth repeating that these are all leaks and rumors about information. Not only that, we are also months from the expected publication of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 this summer. This is all to say that we have no clear picture of how these phones will learn more about it in the coming weeks and months.

But based on what we know today, I can't help but feel torn on these phones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has some really promising upgrades, but other aspects are far too long in the tooth. Larger screens for the flip 7 are easy to see, but if that and some smaller camera tweaks are everything, we will hardly be an exciting upgrade.

Everything makes me mixed over Samsung's 2025 foldable line -up. Not excessively enthusiastic or disappointed. I want Samsung to inspire me with his leaflet as before and look at these latest leaks, I'm not there yet.
