DMP -NABS 167 more because of criminal charges

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 167 other people in the last 24 hours to Saturday at midnight who are allegedly involved in various criminal activities, said a DMP declaration.

The number of arrests has risen to 1471 people in order to have been involved in various crimes, including raid, robbery, extortion and theft in the last five days since the DMP has increased the security agreements since February 25, BSS reports.

The arrests include 24 active robbers, four extortionists, 10 thieves, 22 identified drug dealers and 12 in criminal matters.

A strange pistol, four round balls, a magazine, a toy gun, four cocktails, eight knives, two chapatis, two Ramdas, 21 mobile phones, a motorcycle, a bicycle, two false thousand taka notes and TK 18.3 LAKH in cash were confiscated during the operation.

The DMP also confiscated 1759 Yaba pieces, 2,320 kg Ganja and 10 grams of heroin from its possessions.

In the last 24 hours, 66 cases have been registered against the arrests at various police stations of DMP.

The police activities were reinforced in the Dhaka metropolitan region in order to maintain public security and legal and regulatory situation.

Coordinated checkpoints and patrol activities in coordination with the DMP and other law enforcement authorities were increased as part of this.

According to the DMP's Crime Command and Control Center from DMP, DMP's teams have performed their tasks in 50 police stations of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police for Public Security in 24 hours from 12:01 to 11.59 p.m. on Saturday (March 1, 2025) on public security.

Apart from these, 65 police control points were carried out by the DMP at various important and strategic locations in order to increase safety in the metropolitan region.

In addition to the patrol teams of the DMP, 14 patrol teams from the CTTC, 12 of the anti-terrorist department (ATU) and 10 patrol teams of the DMP and Rab are responsible for various crime-rich areas of the metropolis to maintain public security and law.

Twenty other check posts are operated by the special unit of the police, APBN, together with the DMP.
