According to their own standards, the men's basketball team in Kansas had a disappointing route in its dwindling schedule of the regular season and has four of its last seven games.

The latest loss for the Jayhawks was a 78-73 defeat against Texas Tech No. 10. The Senior Guard Zeke Mayo, the team's second scorer, only admitted five points.

After the loss of the Red Raiders, Mayo apologized for his performance on social media and also revealed that he received hateful news from fans. The influx of threats and negative comments meant that Mayo's teammates and Kansas' employees express their support for the guard, with head coach Bill Self even published an explanation after the team was lost.

Bill Self publishes explanation after Kansas' loss to Texas Tech

During the defeat on Saturday against Texas Tech, Mayo, who scored an average of 14.0 points per game, was five points for 1-of-7 shootings. The Jayhawks are now 19-10 in total and 10-8 in the Big 12, and they have also lost the last games against Utah and BYU. Mayo has been struggling lately lately, and in three of his last four games, a single -digit total. He went to social media to claim responsibility for his game on Saturday.

“I deserved 100% of the world's criticism. My performance was incredibly pathetic today and has been for some time,” Mayo wrote. “I can't always be perfect. I'm sorry for our fans and my teammates, I will continue to get better.”

In the post office, Mayo, who has since deactivated his X account, added screenshots of fans who sent him hated messages, including threats of violence and racist comments.

The sports director of Kansas, Travis Goff, showed his support for Mayo with his own post.

Since Mayo Hass received for his recent appearances and Kansas lost his third home game of the season, Self gave a statement through the social media reports of the Jayhawks in which he explained that his team “briefly” came against the Red Raiders, but all reviews should be addressed as head coach.

“We played a very good team and we beat. “But everyone in our team, the coaches, belonged more than any other to the opportunity to influence the game.”

This is the second season in a row in which Kansas lost at least eight conference games, and it is also the first time that the team has lost 10 games among themselves in consecutive seasons.

The last two regular seasonal games of the Jayhawks will come against the opponents of the ranking and first travel to Houston in Houston and aligned as No. 22 Arizona.
