Steam sets a new record with over 40 million simultaneous players

Steam has just set a new record of simultaneous players. The service of Valve today adopted over 40 million simultaneous players. More precisely, it hit 40,270,997 simultaneous players.

Steam set up his previous record of 39 million simultaneous players in December 2024. In other words, it took about two months to break them.

Let's take a look at the most played games in the last 24 hours.

The most played game is Counter-Strike 2, followed by Monster Hunter Wilds. Yes, the latest Monster Hunter game is in second place. Capcom's game reached a highlight of 1,38 million simultaneous players.

PUBG: Battle Grounds is the third most common game in the last 24 hours, followed by Dota 2 and Marvel Rivals. Naraka: BladePoint is in seventh place and Grand Theft Auto 5 is in eight space. Yes, GTA 5 is still one of the most popular games. And it could become even more popular if the next generation update comes out on March 6th.

Rust and apex legends are in the ninth or tenth place. But what about the path of exile 2? Well, this action RPG (which was the second pair of game played in December) is now in the twenty-fourth place. Ouch. Palworld, Elden Ring and Black Myth: Wukong are not among the top 25.

For science, I also listed the most played games of all time among the top 20. As we can see, some games were up to an extreme degree while they came out, they are no longer played by many players. Such games are Hogwarts Legacy, Lost Ark, Valheim, Fallout 4 and Cyberpunk 2077. Yes, some of them are single player games and you cannot expect SP games to have the longevity of MP games.
