Hawaii congress members asks for waves for Maui Fire Fire Survivors in the Fema Housing Program

Honolulu (Hawaiinewsnow) -The Hawaii congress delegation has asked the Federal Management Agency (FEMA) to give the rent collection for survivors of the MAUI fires in the Direct Housing program of the FEMA.

The US representative Jill Tokuda led the letter to the Fema on request. Us Sens. Brian Schatz, Mazie K. Hirono and US -Rep. Ed Case signed the letter on Friday.

The participating households received rental bills on Saturday, which is explained 18 months after a catastrophe.

By March 11, survivors have time to make their rental decisions by their recertification consultant.

In the letter, the high cost of living in connection with the challenges of the economic recovery of Maui.

“The law gives the Fema the authority to do without the collection of rent for fair markets, and in the past they have done this in places like Louisiana,” said Tokuda in a statement. “Everything we ask is the same consideration so that our employees can concentrate on recovery and reconstruction.”
