Texas celebrates Senior Day, Flacht Florida in the last game of the regular season – The Daily Texan

As a white and burned orange confetti, fluttered over the Moody Center Square, the basketball players and coaches of the Texas women crowded together with a lot to celebrate.

The Longhorns won their last home game, became Southeasters Conference Champions at the KO-Regular season, defeated Florida 72 to 46 and celebrated the senior day while recording number 1 in the country.

Despite a somewhat slow start in the first quarter, it was impossible to slow them down as soon as the Longhorns had the lead. A lot of over 10,000 observed and cheered when the Junior Center Kyla Oldacre distinguished 18 points with the second striker Madison Booker at the age of 14 at the age of 14.

While the seniors were honored -Wachen Rori Harmon and Shay Holle and striker Taylor Jones and Aaliyah Moore -may not have felt their effects in today's games and in their Texas careers.

“Especially with the college basketball to be with you for four years and – with Taylor for three – this is not very common anymore, and I think it's really something special,” said Holle. “And part of the reason why we are here today (as) sec champs.”

Holle joined the program in the first season of head coach Vic Schaefer in Texas, while Moore and Harmon joined the year after. Jones was transferred from the state of Oregon in 2022.

“We are grateful forever,” said Vic Schaefer in a video dedicated to the elderly. “Forever, we are affected by your time here in this program here at the University of Texas. So from us to you, thank you, we love you, we know that you will be great. “

The program celebrated the four seniors in a ceremony after playing with videos from the families of the seniors when the players with Schäfer shared emotional hugs in the middle of the court. Later, the coaches and the team were able to reduce a piece of the network as a souvenir for their regular season with 29: 2, in which they went without losing at home.

After the regular season, the SEC tournament is just around the corner. The team gathered under the big screen to see how the SEC commissioner Greg Sankey turned a coin to decide the No. 1 seed. It was between South Carolina and Texas, which were together with a conference record of 15 to 1, and the Gamecocks won the throw and secured the top seed. Texas will sit in second place and play on Friday, March 7th.

“We have a three-game tournament and a six-game tournament ahead of us,” said Schaefer. “And the glove that this group has gone will not exist that you have not seen … you will appear and play, and it will be important and you won't withdraw from anyone.”

From March 5th to 9th, the Longhorns will drive to Greenville, South Carolina, for the tournament and look for the chance to write the story during their first year in the conference and take the SEC title home with them.
