The 17-year-old, who is charged after the self-inflicted shooting incident

Corpus Christi, Texas-a 17-year-old man recovers after abusing a gun and accidentally shot himself on Saturday evening.

The officers were sent in the 800 block of Don Patricio Road in response to a shootout.

On arrival they found a teenager with a gunshot wound. Doctors quickly transported him to a local hospital with serious but not life -threatening injuries.

The officials found that the firing wound itself was inflicted and randomly.

He was accused of illegally wearing a weapon and giving a firearm.

He was not arrested due to his injuries.
