Five questions that go to the spring exercises 2025 of the Louisville Football

Louisville, Ky. – As quickly as in the previous year, a new season of the Louisville Football will soon be preparing.

Later today the cardinals will return to the Trager's exercise fields and start spring practice – their third under head coach Jeff Brohm. Spring Ball starts on Monday, March 3, and will be completed on Friday, April 11th with the annual spring game of the program.

As you can imagine, it was an extremely busy low season. While Louisville loses several playmakers, they were able to keep a handful of their top players from last season, while they also brought in a variety of talents via the transfer portal and high school ranks.

On the third season of Brohm as head coach, there is no shortage of action. Here are our five biggest questions related to the Louisville football program that occurs in the beginning of spring practice:

The third year under Brohm will again offer a new starter in the quarterback. After seven years in college, Tyler Shogh officially has the authorization more than

While there will be a new starter, there should be no big discussion about who will apparently be Shough's heir. Miller Moss comes as a transfer from USC and will play his last season in college as a cardinal. While boys like Deice Adams and Mason Mims have bright futures, Moss currently offers the greatest ability to play from everyone on the squad.

But that does not mean that there are no questions about moss. He certainly brings fantastic leadership skills on the table and has an above -average accuracy and balance, but he has no arm like Shough and does not have as much experience as he – or even Jack Plummer. There is also the elephant in the room, whereas, while Moss was essentially sinful due to the team -wide defects in USC, the main was put on the bench towards the end of the 2024 season.

Do not make a mistake: the good predominates the bad when it comes to what Moss provides for a crime. But there are questions of how his playing style is changed what Louisville's passing game/overall offense looks like. Especially since it was an additional focus on the vertical passing game with Shough's arm strength.

Regardless of who is a quarterback, this debate is a controversial point if there are no good passports on the roster. Fortunately for Louisville you do not have one, but two caliber recipients in the all-ACC caliber in 2025.

Chris Bell has made a massive progress in the last two off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off start-off start and has a career year in which he caught 43 passes for 737 yards and a touchdown. While Caullin Lacy only played in five games due to a Fallcamp collarbone injury and his subsequent redshirt, he still dragged 18 passes for 196 and a touchdown -and has a proven track record from his time in South Alabama.

But go beyond these two in the deep card and the questions will increase. Louisville Four other returning scholarship width for only 10 catches for 96 yards last season. Of their four newcomers in the position, two real newcomers are, while TJ McWilliams in Minnesota only had minimal repetitions and Bobby was Golden in Akron WR2.

There are also questions at the end. With the conclusion of Mark Redman and the transfer by Jamari Johnson, Nate Kurisky is the top option here of the four scholarship commitments -although he recorded 12 passports for 112 yards and three points last season.

On the one hand, Bell and Lacy will probably be one of the best pass duos in the ACC. On the other hand, the passing game has to be completely unlocked, others have to stand behind – unless Louisville dives back into the portal during the feather window.

During his time as head coach, Jeff Brohm was known for his incredibly productive violations of his time in Western Kentucky and Purdue. Of course, his first two crimes in Louisville were anchored by explosive running attacks.

In 2024, Louisville had one of the best duo not only in the ACC, but also in the entire college football – and both were real newcomers. Isaac Brown exploded on the scene and hurried to 1,173 yards and 11 touchdowns, both of which were number 1 under the Power Conference True Freshman. Duke Watson also had a breakout season that hurried 597 yards and seven points and led 8.91 yards per carry the entire FBS.

This productive season came despite the fact that Maurice Turner and Donald Chaney Jr. were the number 1 and 2 backs that started the year. Brown only became the regular starter in the sixth game of the season and Watson only saw more than seven carries in the last four games.

In addition, a case must be done that the Louisvilles offensive line could be the strongest unit in the team. They return four players who were founded with the games last season in Austin Collins, Rashed Miller, Pete Nygra and Trevonte Sylvester. Not to mention that you have added several quality portal lines such as Jordan Church, Naeer Jackson, Mahaman Moussa and Malylan Punders.

Put it all together and you will see an offensive that could be anchored by the run game for the third season in a row. A full season with Brown and Watson as the boys in the Backfield on the first day, in addition to the strength of the offensive line, has the potential to be even more explosive than last season.

According to all reports, Louisville 2025 should have strong linabacking corps. TJ Quinn and Stanquan Clark, the two leading tackler of the cardinals in 2024, are back. Antonio Watts comes back in the star position after a breakout season, as does the former TJ capers. Not to mention the portal supplements by Darius Thomas von Wku and Kalib Perry from Tennessee will only strengthen the position.

However, there is one aspect of linabacking corps that improve significantly in the low season, and these are their collective skills in passing. While the defense as a whole certainly had its battles, it was a problem to defend the center of the field against broad recipients and narrow ends that appeared routinely – especially in the middle of the season.

The advanced statistics also support this. According to Pro Football Focus, Quinn had a cover quality of 64.9, while Clarks was 67.1 – both fell above average. Even the two transfers were only average here because Thomas had a 57.7 coverage degree, while Perry was 64.1. Even Watts, who played a game in the Sun Bowl, published a reporting of 69.9.

This is a position group that is undoubtedly characterized when it comes to stopping the run – at least when it comes to actual running backs. But if Louisville switches off the full potential of its front seven, especially if there are so many moving parts in the line of defense, the lina backing corps must make reporting better.

Without a doubt, no area of the Louisville field has more question marks than the secondary level.

The cardinals were not only very disappointing when it came to their group of defensive back when you consider that sometimes they were simply bad. Last season they allowed 236.2 yards per game, which was not only in 17-team acc. 12.

Then take the squad sales into account. The cardinals lose their five top cornerbacks, including a few all-access actors in Quincy Riley and Corey Thornton. Louisville also loses his start -safety duo in MJ Griffin and Tamarion McDonald.

In fact, D'Angelo Hutchinson is the only returning defensive with significant experiences at this level. Blake Ruffin ran a lot in Eastern Illinois in his time, but he had to miss the entire 2024 season for an injury. McCullough and Rae'mon Mosby have minimal experience in the game, and Antonio Harris is a real newcomer.

For this reason, Louisville had to hit the portal here – and there are even questions here. Guys like Justin Agu von Louisiana, Jojo Evans from Fiu, Rodney Johnson Jr. von Southern and Jabari Mack from Jax State certainly played well at their previous stops, but everyone comes from lower college football. The transfer of the only Power Conference is Baylors Corey Gordon.

Of course, this new secondary level could go out very well and kill it during the spring ball. But there are many questions on the surface, which are urging how this largely new group will perform at this level. One could even assume that Louisville, depending on how the spring ball works, will certainly continue to build up the secondary in the Spring portal window.
