New construction of fire brigade houses all electrically with Solar-PV Magazine International

The professor of Stanford University, Mark Z. Jacobson, explains how the areas of Los Angeles, who were recently hit by Fire, now have the opportunity to reduce energy costs and reconstruction costs by only rebuilding all-electric houses. “There is no reason to have both electricity and fossilas in a building at the same time. There is nothing that guess is that electricity doesn't go better, ”he says.

On January 18, 2025, I was lucky enough to provide portable solar battery systems to firefighters near the front line of the Malibu fire, thanks to a non-profit organization that was strengthened by light and a retired fire brigade captain, Richard Birt. The firefighters were very grateful because their only power source was their fire engine, and drawing too much electricity from the truck for charging batteries and communication devices from the chain chain could prevent the truck from working. In addition, the truck cannot be brought from the road near the fire brigade while the sun battery system can.

It was devastating to drive mile after the mile along the picturesque Pacific Coast Highway and to see one burned -out structure after the other. Families expelled. Memories lost. History deleted. However, there is the possibility of doing what is to be done throughout America and the world. This opportunity is to build all new houses and companies with only electricity and without fossil gas, contrary to the order commissioned by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass 13 January on January 13, which enables residents to rebuild houses with fossil gas.

Avoiding gas eliminates the likelihood that a broken gas pipe like in San Bruno, California, exploded in 2010, injured 8, 58 and destroyed 38 houses. Avoiding underground gas also makes it easier to install underground electrical lines. Underground electrical lines are needed to eliminate the likelihood that they cause sparks that probably cause the Eaton fire. The burning of gas also eliminates benzene (a carcinogen) and other health -related air pollutants from human houses and death through carbon monoxide poisoning due to incorrect devices that run with gas. It also reduces the necessity of the Aliso Canyon gas storage system, which was opened 112 days from 2015 to 2016 and spat on 97,000 tons of methane plus other gases. Finally, reducing gas reduces the need for the 50,000 new oil and gas fountain, which are drilled every year in Central Ordinary America.

By producing new buildings, all electrical gas will be eliminated by them, which reduces the preliminary and long-term costs. There is no reason to have both electricity and fossilas in a building at the same time. There is nothing that guess that electricity doesn't go better. Treasurer wants the people to include both electricity and gas, since the contractors know that they are paid more for the additional work and equipment that is needed with gas. The waste costs due to the installation of gas include a gas connection fee, the ditch for gas pipes, the pipes themselves, gas devices, a gas knife and a carbon monoxide monitor. Construction owners with electricity alone do not require gas. You only need electricity and electrical devices. However, the most important electrical devices consume much less energy than equivalent gas devices. For example, an electric heat pump for air and water heating, air conditioning and clothing for the same purposes consumes 67 to 80% less energy than gas heating. An electric hob consumes 62% less energy than a gas stove.

Construction owners can reduce the costs by installing solar and batteries on the roof and/or taking energy efficiency measures in their buildings. There are at least 11 reasons why SolardooFtop reduces the costs for everyone. Among them reduces the need for an expensive power grid flow, reduces the forest fire risk by reducing the need for electrical lines, reducing land requirements and reducing pollution by mains flow. Roof solar also offers electricity during electricity consumption. It cools down buildings in summer by converting sunlight into electricity. It eliminates the need for expensive roofing material and serves as an additional source for network current. Batteries postpone excess solar stream into the night and avoid payment by homeowners with high evening power prices. Efficiency measurements (sealing of doors and windows, LED lights and energy-efficient devices) reduce the need for electricity.

These measures can remove the fossil gas bill, the electricity bill and the gasoline calculation of the occupant. A solar and battery system with subsidy pays off after five years, since both the cost savings and energy costs are in advance. Without a subsidy, the amortization period is about nine years, while Solar is guaranteed for 25 years.

Los Angeles has the opportunity to do the same by rebuilding all-electric houses, the cost of the advance payment by eliminating the wasteful installation of fossil gas; Reduce customer accounts for fossil gas and electricity in new houses and vehicle fuel; Reduce the fire risk from transmission pipe sparks and gas pipeline break; And reduce health, environmental and climate damage due to fossil gas.
