The director of a local non -profit organization that is dedicated to the support of seniors will be one of the participants of the annual event.

Marilyn Olsen, Executive Director of Villagesokc, says that seniors get to know legislators, find resources and contact others.

“[Do] Don't let someone else speak for you, ”said Olsen. “The goal is to be informed and to speak to what we want and make plans for it.”

Olson says she believes that the more connections you have, the longer you will live, so she wants to motivate seniors to connect with each other.

The organizers behind Oklahoma's senior say that they want to hear how seniors become strong in Oklahoma and what can change.

More than 300 people are registered to take part in the event that begins on Monday at 8:30 a.m.

The event runs until 1 p.m. with Oklahoma Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell expected to speak in addition to information stands and to award seniors time to meet the legislators.
