Historical Ravenel house on Charleston Battery sells at a record price

A historic house in Charleston's battery broke a sales record.

The John Ravenel House, 5 East Battery St. in Charleston, was sold according to a press release from the Cassina Group for $ 18.25 million.

In addition to the sale of the house, a separate sales bill for 3 million US dollars was carried out to select lights and content in the house, the press release says. Together, the sale takes part in 21.25 million US dollars.

The sale has shaken earlier records in the Charleston Trident MLS according to the publication.

The 9,407 square meter Ravenel House was built in 1848 with a view of the port of Charleston and Fort Sumter on the high battery of the south of the neighborhood of 9,407 square meters.

“We are pleased to announce the successful closure of the sale of 5 East Battery, a transaction that illustrates extraordinary cooperation and commitment,” said Robertson Allen, co-listing agent at the Cassina Group, in the press release. “This performance is the result of a concerted effort of all parties involved, starting with our respected sellers and their team, which ensured that the property was presented for numerous ideas in an impeccable state.”

According to the publication, Allen and Scotty Brisson headed the sale of the Cassina group with a broker and marketer team. The group secured the contract in 39 days.

“The representation of the sellers of the 5 East Battery Street was a real privilege. This legendary house is not only one of the most beautiful and historically important properties in Charleston, but also a reflection of the extraordinary sellers, really some of the most civic and brilliant people I ever had to know the pleasure, ”said Scotty Brisson.

With 52 brokers, the Cassina group had a banner year in 2024, which, according to the publication, achieved almost 586 million US dollars in closed transactions. For 2025, it is for another strong year with over 127 million US dollars in closed sales by the end of February 2025, the publication said.

The Cassina Group is a boutique real estate agent with offices in Charleston and Mount Pleasant. The company is directed by founding partners and brokers, Jimmy Dye and Robertson Allen.
