This year's large marshal is Shannon M. Corcoran.

“As an active member of many Irish organizations in Cleveland, Shannon enthusiastically worked on enriching everyone with their time and their talent,” said their biography on the parade website. “She started her life as a student at the Burke School of Irish Dance, where she performed in shows and competitions for twelve years and helped to learn this strict art form.”

The history of the parade of the Cleveland St. Patrick's Day comes from almost two centuries.

“The very first parade we know about in Cleveland was organized in 1842 by the third Catholic priest of the city, Rev. Peter McLaughlin,” said the parade. “Fr. McLaughlin was a supporter of moderate or abstinence of alcohol, and his celebration for St. Patrick's Day began with the trade fair in St. Mary's on the Flats – the only Catholic church in Cleveland's city limits at that time – drove with a parade of the Catholic temperature society and with a banket that is occupied by friends and family members.”
