Flood clock exhibited due to warmer temperatures and rain

NWS-Buffalo raises alarms for ice rod pots and floods.

Buffalo, NY – The good news: warmer temperatures come Tuesday and Wednesday.

The bad news: This warm front brings half a centimeter rain and fills Wny streams with a melting snow.

Melting snow begins on Tuesday when the reading rises through the 1940s. A spot shower is possible on Tuesday.

The temperatures will then increase in the 1950s for the majority of the region on Wednesday, while it is accompanied by a general half customs precipitation. The fast melt of the Snow Cover regions is combined with this precipitation in order to cause significant climbs to the surface flea, with flooding possible.

Flood concerns are particularly increased in areas where tributaries are susceptible to ice jams.

The areas of regional streams include Cazenovia, Ellicott, Tonawanda and Cattaraugus. The Buffalo River was also problematic with ice jams.

There are no watches for the flood of area (widespread).

We will keep an eye on the water measuring devices for these streams, especially Wednesday and Thursday.

Storm Team 2 will continue to keep this story up to date.

According to the National Weather Service, an ice jam occurs when chunks clump together to block the river flow. They are usually caused by melting snow and ice in spring.
