Video shows Princess Cruises Ship in strong winds, injured 16 and emptied pools

A princess cruise ship met rough water in New Zealand last week, drained the ship dramatically and left sixteen people with minor injuries.

Strong winds met the crown princess in Fiordland, New Zealand, and forced the ship to “tilt beyond its usual movement before stabilizing,” said Princess Cruises in a declaration on cruise beehive. “Our crew reacted quickly to correct the situation and was never compromised for the safety of the ship.”

“In addition, a small amount of water from the Lido deck pool briefly entered the Horizons Food Court, but the area was quickly cleaned and reopened. There was no structural damage to the ship, ”added the cruise line.

Martin Wise was a passenger on the ship that has a guest capacity of 3,090 guest when the crown princess was hit by the strong winds. Wise informed what he had seen from the dining room of the sixth floor with New Zealand publication material.

“I felt that the boat was sloping and tapping. Then it put a lot over and moved at high speed and we could see how the sea looks very high from the restaurant windows, ”said Wise Stuff.

Cups, glasses and plates that “fly” went through the room, and according to Wise, noise from the kitchen had to be heard. He estimated that the incident took about 40 seconds.

Wise said that the captain informed the passengers that the ship was hit by a 75 -knot -wind, which is about 86 miles per hour. The winds increased the speed of the ship and inclined about 14 degrees. Wise said parts of the carpet of a restaurant on a higher deck dry out days later.

Despite the not so smooth sailing, Wise is not deterred by cruises.

“I had it to 8.5 to 10 on a scary level,” said Wise. “This is our seventh princess cruise and nothing has never happened that way.”

“It didn't take us from cruises,” he added.

The video released on Facebook shows a swimming pool that is solved on the deck and a kitchen with spilled food and damaged kitchen dishes, which has changed.

Princess Cruises did not immediately respond to an NBC message request for comments.
