Here is a current AP story about baseball:

Former General Manager of New York Mets, Billy Eppler, has joined the Milwaukee Brewers as a special consultant for scouting and baseball operations, according to a person familiar with the situation.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the brewers had not announced the setting. Sny first reported that Eppler came to Milwaukee.

Eppler was suspended last year after a baseball examination by the Major League came to the conclusion that he had instructed METS employees to promote injuries to create open squad positions, but this punishment expired according to the World Series in 2024.

He resigned in October 2023 as General Manager of the Mets because the owner Steve Cohen David Stearns hired as President of Baseball operations. Stearns had the president of the baseball operations at Brewers before he resigned at the end of the 2022 season.

Eppler came to the Mets in November 2021 after working as General Manager of Los Angeles Angels from 2015 to 20. The Mets went 101-61 and in 2022 earned a playoff lounger from NL.

Eppler also worked in scouting and player development with the Colorado Rockies and as a director for professional scouting and deputy general manager of New York Yankees.

He now joins a brewer organization that follows a third NL central title in a row. Matt Arnold, who was selected as a manager of the MLB business year of the year last season, has been President of the Baseball operations since October 2022, after he previously acted as a right man from Stearns.
