The judge of the DC Superior Court, Carmen McLean, condemned co -accused about her participation in a non -fatal shootout on February 28th.

On September 17, 2024, Kurtis Hubbard (24) and Brian Richard (21) are guilty of being attacked with the intention of committing robberies on the 3200 block of 20th Street, NE, on May 7, 2024. A single sustainable injuries.

Hubbard also said guilty of illegal to have a firearm with a previous conviction, and Richard, to wear a gun without a license.

According to court documents, Hubbard and Richard tried to rob the victim, which led to a fight and relieved a firearm. The victim suffered injuries that had nothing to do with the shootout.

During the hearing, the public prosecutor's office urged the maximum conviction of lifting bard due to its criminal history, which included previous convictions for bodily harm, robbery and burglary.

Hubbard expressed the remorse in which I said: “I wasn't in the right state of mind, I was not the one that I was normally. I feel bad for the victim. The court condemned Hubbard for 45 months with the intention of committing robbery to commit robbery for nine months. He also received 25 months for the illegal possession of a firearm, with seven months being exposed to. The sentences are served at the same time.

Richard's defender, Bryan Bookhard, argued that he did not have a firearm during the incident, and was only involved when he tried to avert the Hubbard's gun to prevent further violence. They were looking for a shared punishment that combined the prison sentence with probation and a fully suspended judgment for the weapon accusation.

In court, Richard offered a warm apology: “I would like to apologize to the victim, family and the community. I feel repentant to the victim. “

Richard received a 24 -month prison sentence for the indictment for assault at 12 months. Richard received a 12-month prison sentence for carrying a dangerous weapon outside of a house or a business that was completely exposed to. Both sentences are carried out at the same time.
