Fast brushfire in Peachtree City Spurs Evacuations and throws alarm out alarm

Firefighters warn of Northern Georgia, including Metro Atlanta, of an increased risk of fire.

The warning takes place after a rapidly moving brush fire in Peachtree City forced evacuations on Saturday.

What we know:

The fire lit near a multi-purpose route between the Braelinn Golf Club and the Crescent OAK subdivision. It quickly spread, jumped on the way and led through a green beam and the golf course, which comes dangerously near houses and a commercial building. Fortunately, no houses were damaged, even though a large scale was destroyed near the golf course. Firefighters from Peachtree City, Fayette County and Fayetteville quickly responded to the containment of the flames.

What we don't know:

The exact cause of the fire remains indefinite. Peachtree City's investigators are still working to identify the cause, whereby a thrown cigarette is considered a potential source of ignition.

Timetable:

The fire occurred on Saturday and prompted immediate evacuations. The national weather service has shown that dangerous conditions, which are characterized by dry vegetation, low humidity and gusty winds, remain until Monday evening. However, Rain, who is expected overnight on Tuesday, can help alleviate the fire risk.

What you say:

Officials ask the residents to avoid burning outdoors and properly dispose of smoke materials to prevent further incidents. The national weather service has emphasized the persistent dangerous conditions and underlined the need for caution.

What's next:

The residents are recommended to stay vigilant and to stick to security recommendations until the conditions improve. The expected rain on Tuesday evening can provide a certain relief, but a continued caution is required until the fire risk decreases.
