At least five injured in two Biloxi shootings, suspects are still on the run

Biloxi, Miss. (WLOX) – At least five people were injured in two shootings that took place in Biloxi on Sunday evening. On Monday, WLOX News worked on receiving further details about the crimes, including the surveillance cameras, which recorded one of the shootings.

The first shootout occurred in the family dollar on the corner of Division Street and Nichols. Three suspects tried to rob someone around 7:50 p.m., another person who wanted to intervene, but they were shot, the police said.

WLOX News received a surveillance cameras through the Kroc Center of the Salvation Army on the other side of the Dollar. The video shows three figures from the front parking lot. They seem to be entering a car and then accelerating north to Nichols.

A Biloxi police officer was on site within three minutes. A second unit later arrived on Nichols and raced north, in the direction in which the suspicious vehicle was recently brought in the direction.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non -life -threatening injuries.

An hour and a half later, just under a mile down the street, shots rang in the Club Elevate in the Caillavet Street.

When the officers arrived at 9:30 p.m., they found several people who were injured by the shootout, but the suspect was nowhere to be found.

Four people were taken to the hospital. Two of them received life -threatening injuries.

One of the doors is broken at the entrance of the club. On the bottom of the glass there is a bullet hole with a evidence marker.

Neighbors, who live from Elevate around the corner, said Wlox News, the club is lively when it is open, but they did not expect a shootout to take place in this relatively quiet section of Biloxi.

The Biloxi police did not say whether the crimes are connected, but nobody has yet been arrested for the shootings.

The police could not give the two people with life -threatening injuries. WLOX News confirmed with Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer that he did not respond to deaths in connection with the shootout on Monday at 5 p.m.

WLOX News turned to Club Elevate owner for a comment, but received no answer.

The city of Biloxi rejected an interview for this story.
