Lady Bears closes the schedule for the home with Senior Night win over Delaware State

Baltimore, Md. (March 3, 2025)-On Monday evening, the Morgan State Lady Bears ended their regular season homes with a 58:47 victory over the Delaware State Hornets in a crucial mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown in the Hill Field House.

The victory ended a four-game loss from Skid and improved the record of the Lady Bears to 12-16 in total and 5-8 in the conference game. Morgan State also ended a defeat against four games and ended the season with an 8: 4 mark at home. In the last six seasons it has been the fifth winning record of the Lady Bears at home.

Before the tip, Morgan State honored three seniors who played key roles in the success of the program: Wache Nakilah Johnsonforward Laila Fairand guard Emily Jones.

“I think my team played very hard today,” said Jones. “We definitely made a few challenges, but I have the feeling that everyone was really locked up and pushed through.”

Head coach Ed Davis expressed his pride in the efforts of the team and the importance of victory.

“I am very happy about the seniors, especially Emily and the other young women, that they can go out in their last home game with a win and feel good,” said Davis. “We had some difficult times in this defeat, and it caught up with us. So this was an important moment for all of us.”

When the emotions in the senior evening ran high, the Lady Bears wasted no time to assert itself. After winning the opening tip, Nia Green Put it on the board quickly with a smooth two-point jumper.

Coach Davis admitted how important victory is and noticed: “I am glad that the young women won. We achieved a defeat against four games after we confronted two of the top teams in the conference, so this was an urgently needed victory.”

Until the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears led 14: 9 thanks to its dominance in the boards and secured 14 rebounds to the nine of the state of Delaware. “When I went into play, I was very excited to take part in competitions,” said Ojukwu. “I knew that I had to contribute defensively and pick up for my offense until it came, or until my teammates picked me up what they did.”

With momentum on her side, the lady Bears focused on closing her home final with an explanatory victory in the second half. By the end of the third quarter, Morgan State had extended his lead and scored 17 points, while Delaware State scored 15 during this period.

Jael Butler She also made a name for herself with 10 rebounds with nine points together with Ojukwus 15 rebounds, and helped the lady to dominate the glass 55-37.

“I think the key is to keep the momentum and what we preach in the changing room,” said Ojukwu. “It is never too late to do something great and we concentrate on writing history while we deal with the tournament.”

Lady Bear's bank played a crucial role in victory and contributed 34 points – a big milestone after the fighting of the past week.

“It is important that the bank includes its role and understands it,” said coach Davis. “You will never win a championship without a strong bank.”
With a view of the future, the Lady Bears will be back on the pitch for the regular 2024-2025 season on Thursday, March 6th, at 5:30 p.m.

The Eagles (17-12, 8-5 MEAC) were negotiated on Monday a defeat of 62-56 house losses against Maryland Eastern Shore. It was the third house loss of Coppin State after starting at home 7-0. Laila Lawrence led the Eagles with a game of 18 points and added eight rebounds, two steals and two assists in the defeat. Angel Jones ended with 12 points, four templates and theft. Cire Worley and Niyah Gaston each came from the bank to score eight points.
