Fire in Greensboro's Cavalier Inn twisted dozens and leaves families in the hover

Greensboro, NC – At the weekend, a fire in the Cavalier Inn in Greensboro displaced dozens of residents, which forced it to look for new accommodations. The Greensboro fire brigade reacted to the hotel in the 300 block of the West JJ Drive, where Rauch was visible. Although no injuries were reported, the fire has life for many, including Myisha Butchee and their family.

“To be honest, I thought we would die there because it was exactly where we were,” said Butchee, a mother who lived in the Cavalier Inn. The fire left her family without home and she expressed the trauma of experience. “Shouldn't a child experience what we are experiencing, they know, and the fact that we could have lost our lives yesterday was a lot,” she said.

The fire brigade evacuated the building and saved the life of Butchee and its children. However, the consequences were a challenge when they navigate temporary accommodations and hotels.

“Where will we go after two weeks? I have no money, I have no money to put ourselves here in another room or another day or a little more. I have no more money,” said Butchee.

Butchee described the fight between five animal shelters and hotels before finding a temporary space. “I'm tired, I keep trying to put on a strong face and everything, but I'm tired, man,” she said. The belongings of her family are now limited to a single room, and she focuses on offering stability to her son. “I try my best to have something stable for my son so that he doesn't have to go through it every day,” said Butchee.

Aaron, Myisha's partner, emphasized the need for compassion for the community. “Just worry that you know that everyone was thrown out and it just isn't true,” he said.

The cause of the fire is examined by the Greensboro police.
