Bremerton teacher rebuilt after the devastating house fire

The community gathers around a Bremerton teacher and her sister after a fire was torn through her house last Thursday.

According to Anita Cryder, neighbors discovered the smoke around 4.15 p.m. while she was still at work. When she got the call, she was afraid that her pets could be caught inside.

The background story:

Although many of her memories and everyday household items were burned in the fire, she is grateful that the community is behind her and her sister Lisa. She says she is also grateful that the family's pets were able to think about it quickly to make it alive.

“This is Izzy,” said Anita. “She just became four a few months ago and she is everything for me.”

Izzy, Anitas Katzenkurbis and her sister's dog, Tyrion, were all in the house alone when the fire broke out.

“I couldn't get there quickly enough, even though it was so close,” said Anita.

The neighbors saw smoke and called the fire. She was notified after work, wrapped in school and hurried home.

“The back of the house is pretty completely gone,” said Cryder.

Although the house was in ruins, she was overjoyed that her furry trio could somehow find their way into safety.

“I have a dog door and if I didn't have it, this could be a completely different result,” said Anita.

When the house burned, the neighbors gathered the animals and took care of them until Anita arrived.

“I can't even imagine whether something had happened to her. It is unimaginable. I can't even think about it to be honest,” said Anita about Izzy.

“To be honest, I was only in the panic state,” said Hannah Cryder, Anita's daughter, depicted with pumpkin below.

Hannah lives at home when she is not at school and says her mother is everything.

“For a few moments, I didn't know exactly that she wasn't at home,” said Hannah. “Knowing that Izzy and all animals were okay is only everything they can ask, right?”

“It is definitely different if it happens with your own family,” said Alex Cryder, son of Anita.

What's next:

Alex is himself a firefighter. His wife Patricia started an online donation campaign for his mother. Many employees and fire brigades have come to donations.

“I can't even put it into words how grateful I am,” said Alex.

Anita hopes to save all family heritage cups she can.

Izzy's toys were also destroyed, so that the community also appeared and began to fall for them.

“The expression in the community was amazing,” said Anita.

According to Anita, her next steps will be to work again to create a certain normality in your life. She says she will stay with her son and daughter -in -law Patricia for the time being.
