Future UFC-Hall-of-Famer-Hall has the date and opponent for his MMA return

Despite the request of the UFC President Dana White and others, the Future Hall of Famer and the former preliminary lightweight master Tony Ferguson is not retired. The recently published veteran with an epic defeat with eight fights has a return date and an opponent.

The 41 -year -old Ferguson, who is now signed at the Global Fight League, will compete on May 11th in Los Angeles the former Bellator competitor Dillon Danis. Ferguson confirmed the date and the opponent when he performed as a guest The Ariel Helwani Show On Monday, March 3.

Ferguson didn't look impressive for a while. During his defeat, however, he confronted some rather elite fighters. The defeats stacked in May 2020 when he lost to Justin Gaethje through the fifth round KO with Justin Gaethje.

Later this year Ferguson lost a unanimous decision to Charles Oliveira. In May 2021, Ferguson dropped a further unanimous decision for Dariush. The following year things became a bit brutal when the interruptions started – and some of them were devastating.

In May 2022, Michael Chandler Ferguson excluded the front kick from hell.

Ferguson was submitted by Nate Diaz in September 2022. In July 2023 he was submitted by Bobby “King” Green, followed by a unanimous decision against Paddy Pimblett in December 2023 and another loss of submission to Michael Chiesa in August 2024 El cucuy UFC final.

No fighter in the UFC history had a longer defeat. Ferguson's defeat against Chiesa broke another legend, BJ Penn, record for consecutive senselessness.

Danis was a fighter who was difficult to take seriously as a martial artist. The former Conor McGregor training partner has a 2-0 record in MMA.

He is known for his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills, but he has classified the fame that he gained crossover opportunities during his connection with McGregor, such as the boxing match, which he had on March 29 against KSI.

While Ferguson went out in the UFC than his heyday, it may not be crazy to point out that he could be more competitive against an inexperienced and less employed fighter.

Ferguson's hardcore fans hope that they have the opportunity to see their favorite fighters again raised in victory. On the other hand, it would be shit to lose him again – especially for a fighter who has not dedicated as much to sport as Ferguson throughout his career.

It seems that the May event will be the first GFL show. The event location was not announced, but if you look at the calendar, the date for the new action is not bad.

It is a Sunday, the day after UFC 315, so there will not be much martial arts competition. From sports there could be a conflict Sunday evening baseball and NBA playoff action.

In any case, I would be surprised if something of the GFL does not trend on several social media platforms. Will attention to the second event will take? That remains to be seen. As a martial arts journalist, I would like to see how it works, but I would lie if I said I have great hopes.

I would like to be wrong about the chances of winning from GFL and Ferguson.
