Maryland Hunters Record 84.201 Hirsch for 2024-2025 season

Maryland Hirschjäger received from September 6, 2024 to February 4, 2025, 84th.

The nationwide harvest reported the Maryland Department of Natural Resources 32,148 antlers and 47,271 white deer with white cock as well as 2,143 antlers and 2,639 antlers. The harvest was 15.9 percent higher than the 2023-2024 a total of 72,642 deer and 10.4 percent higher than the five-year average of 76,272.

“Hirschjäger in Maryland enjoyed another year in the field when snow and cooler temperatures later provided many successful hunts in the season,” said Karina Stonesifer, director of wild animals and Heritage Service. “Maryland's deer population stays healthy and we thank the hunters for their support in the administration of the state of the state.”

Jäger received 9,459 deer on Sundays and encompassed 11.2 percent from the total of the harvest. The hunt for Hirsch on Sunday is only allowed in certain weeks in 20 by Maryland's 23 counties.

The harvest in region A (Western Maryland) rose from 9,169 deer by 12.1 percent to 10,275 this year. Jäger in the western counties reported 5,836 antlers and 4,439 antlers.

Hunters in the region B – the rest of the state – were 73,926 deer, by 16.5 percent compared to 63,473 deer by 16.5 percent last year. A total of 28,455 antlers and 45,471 antlers were reported in this region.

Frederick County had the highest white frenzy harvest again this year. 6,869 deer reported: an increase of 4.9 percent compared to the previous year. Carroll County followed with 5,988 and Garrett County was third with 5,613 Hirschen. The counties Baltimore and Washington rounded off the top 5 with 5,239 or 5,066 deer.
