Special commemoration of international women's day 2025

International Women's Day is a global recognition and celebration of the achievements and the resistance of women. The topic 2025 demands measures that can activate the same rights, power and opportunities for everyone. At the center of this vision is the next generation – Youth, especially young women and young girls – as catalysts for permanent changes.

Thirty years after the introduction of the explanation and the action platform (BPFA) in Beijing, this transformative framework for the further development of women's rights continues to lead the progress in key areas such as education, health, peace, climate justice, media, political participation, economic authorization and elimination of violence against women and girls.

The explanation and the action platform for Beijing changed the agenda of women's rights in areas such as legal protection, access to services, youth participation, changing social norms and participation of women in peace. In 2025, the global landscape for equality for gender is shaped by complex and overlapping challenges: climate crises, increasing conflicts, digital gender differences and the rapid formation of transformative technologies such as generative AI.

On the international Women's Day and the 30th anniversary of the BPFA, un Women, the United Nations Office in Geneva (Unog) and the delegation of the European Union, organized BPFA anniversary organize the United Nations Generations -Dialog about Beijing +30: For all women and girls – rights, equality, authorization.
