When does spring football for the Oklahoma Sooners start?

The college football is at least a bit back in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Sooners start in Norman Spring Football on Thursday and officially start the fourth year under coach Brent Venables and the second season of Sooners in the Sec.

The Sooners have in their first year in the discouraging second. After two defeats in three seasons, Venables starts at the 2025 heat seat. So this is its most important spring so far, especially with so much change in the entire program.

OU has lost both coordinators since the end of the 2024 season after the offensive coordinator Seth Litrell was released in the temporary season and the defensive coordinator ZAC Alley left West Virginia.

Venables commissioned 29-year-old Ben Arbuckle from the state of Washington as the next player of the Sooners. Wazzu Quarterback John Mateer, who was the No. 1 player in the transfer portal, came with Arbuckle when he committed himself to OU. Mateer will replace Jackson Arnold, who moved to Auburn.

On the defensive side, Venables have been responsible for themselves as a former successful defense coordinator. Spring will be the first real time juggling of coaching tasks of Venables in addition to the administrative tasks that a head coach has in today's College Football world.

In view of all this change, spring practices and a spring game seem to be exceptionally important, but can cancel spring games as a top programs in the whole country, the SoOners followed this trend after they announced on Monday that they would be debut the crimson combat instead.

OU will organize its first crimson combine on April 12, on the same day when the spring game was originally planned in the Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
