Suspect in fatal Martin Rd. Arrested shots, victims identified

Madison Co., Ala. (Waff) – The Huntsville police authority arrested the man who was suspected at a fatal shootout on Martin RD.

On Monday evening, the Huntsville police officers responded to a shot in Belmont Hill Apartments.

When the officials arrived, they found the victim, 53-year-old Demetrius Jones, in the door of his apartment with gunshot wounds. He was declared dead on site.

Officials found that Peterson and Jones, who lived in the same apartment complex, had had an ongoing dispute for several months.

They say Peterson went in Jones' apartment, where a dispute escalated between them and led to the shootout.

Peterson was found and arrested in a nearby apartment a short time later.

The investigators found a gun in Jones' apartment and a pistol in Peterson's apartment. The weapons were removed from the scene.

Peterson was charged with murder and is recorded in the Madison County prison without bond.

The shootout is examined.
