Bronx building arsonist: NYPD looking for a man who is triggered on video, triggers the fire outside the 6-story apartment in Norwood

Norwood, the Bronx (WABC) – The NYPD and the FDNY are looking for a man who is caught on video by starting a fire by pouring gasoline and shed light on a match along a sidewalk in the Bronx overnight.

“I saw the black spot,” said building owner Katrina Curanaj. “I wounded the camera again. I saw flames. I panicked. My heart came out of my chest. I thought: 'What's going on?'”

The annoying surveillance video shows a random man methodically and hardworking and apparently tries to set a building on fire.

“If it won't be my building, which building will he address next?” Said Curanaj.

Curanaj has never seen him before and has no idea why someone wants to burn down their six -story residential building in family -owned.

“This type is, I think,” said Curanaj. “This is his Mo, he will burn buildings.”

It happened on Tuesday at around 2:30 a.m. in Rochambeau Avenue in the Norwood section of the Bronx.

First, the surveillance video shows the suspect, who is pressing the building that presses a car.

Curanaj said the suspect then put a red bag next to the building.

After that, the suspect is seen who goes backwards and a gasoline is emptied on the sidewalk. He leans and ignites the fire. The sidewalk rose so quickly that the suspect had to jump backwards so as not to be burned.

What happened next was even more incredible. Two people jump out of a passing car, delete the flames and drive away – never call 911.

“I didn't get any calls because all tenants slept,” said Curanaj. “All tenants have slept. I don't know who the two colleagues were outside and the fire was going.”

The fire survived what a bottle of regular alcohol seems to be. It was in the red bag.

“I won't sleep tonight, because how about if I go out my building or one of my tenants from the building and this type comes back?” Said Curanaj. “Do you remember the girl's incident, which someone burned on the train by someone who threw petrol on her and burned it? I don't want this to happen to one of my tenants or me.”
