PSV can shock Arsenal despite poor form – perisic

Arsenal has more than one foot in the quarter -finals of the Champions League after scoring seven goals in an extraordinary away win at the unfortunate PSV Eindhoven.

The Gunners have fought goals in the past few weeks – in three of their last four games, but Mikel Areteta's team got to life in a devastating 7-1 win.

The goals of Jurrien Timber, 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri and the provisional striker Mikel Merino brought the visitors into a hardly believable position before half-time.

Noah Lang pulled a back from the penalty point, but Arsenal only achieved seconds after the restart when Martin Odegaard restored her three-goal pillow.

Leandro Trossard added two minutes later, with Odegaard rounded off his second and Riccardo Calafiori for the North Londoner with a seventh.

The Gunners were the first away team in the history of the Champions League, which scored in a KO game against seven goals, and the second leg next week at Emirates is anything but a formality.

Peter Bosz reacts

PSV manager Peter Boss understandably looks defeated.

He calls the game a “terrible night for us”.

“No chances, maybe two moments in the game. Two moments when we return to the game, but we had no chance in terms of football.

“Arsenal played well, fantastic. Arm from our side, not at all the football we play normally.

“We had a plan, we analyzed it, we thought we could hurt her. But when you look at how we defended, it was really poor. You cannot be successful if you play like that.

“I couldn't imagine that I could ever lose so big [a margin]. We have to accept it, but it's difficult, ”he adds.
