Knox County priests to receive a new order after examining the diocese

Knoxville, tenn. (Wvlt) – The Knoxville diocese said that she had completed an investigation by a Farragut priest after reports were made last year.

Father Joseph Reed was brought on vacation in December after being accused of violating limits within the safe environmental policy of the Knoxville diocese.

Knox County's office, the Tennessee Department of Child Services and the Knoxville diocese examined the allegations, and KCSO said in January that her investigation did not make the accusations.

On Tuesday, the diocese said that it had completed her own investigations regarding Reed. An independent investigator has not found any evidence of a crime.

However, the diocesan examination committee found that the investigation found credible evidence of the support of the symptoms, whereby references to “frequent border violations with minors and adults” were found and that they were “common and consistent, serious and regardless of the holy priesthood”.

The board recommended a strong supervision in the future and an order with an experienced pastor to ensure vigilance and mentoring, and Bishop Mark Beckman said that he was turning around with the Priest History board to recommend a future mission for Reed.

“All clergymen, employees, employees and volunteers have to do a safe environmental training before they take part with ministries, groups and diocesan organizations,” said the diocese.
