Recurring paper leaks spark of concern about examination integrity

With the progressive technology, YouTube channels and instant messaging applications appear as a marketplace for leaked papers

A day before the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam at the state level, the question paper on social media was leaked and asked for private schools to request an investigation by the examination board.

The examination, which was planned for Monday at 2 p.m., left her question paper on Sunday evening, almost 18 hours before the test began, on YouTube. When the students received the official question paper, it agreed with the leaked version and made serious concerns about fairness.

Over the years, the methods of leaky questionnaires have developed with technological advances. In the past, leaked questionnaires were photocopied and discreetly sold to the students at a price before the exam. This was a well -organized underground network in which students who were ready to gain access to exam questions before the test.

Educators said that leaks have shifted with advanced digital communication of physical copies to e -mail distribution. Question papers are scanned by e -mail and divided with selected groups so that it is easier to achieve more students and at the same time maintain confidentiality. With the rise of instant -messaging apps, the leaks are even more common, whereby platforms such as WhatsApp enable the rapid spread of questionnaires to thousands of students within minutes.

A pedagogical said that YouTube channels are used as a marketplace for leaked papers. “Some people upload partial or complete questionnaires on these channels, either as a preview to lure students or load money for full access. The lightness of sharing digital content has made it almost impossible to contain such leaks and uncover concerns about the integrity of the exam, ”said the Educationist.

Ramakrishna D, a teacher, said that the students who gained access to examined questionnaires undermined the purpose of the exams undermining. He said that it creates an unfair advantage, reduces the credibility of academic reviews and discouraged honest efforts. “It is even more important that it promotes a culture in which the students rely on links instead of real learning, which can have long -term consequences for their future prospects,” he said.

Shashi Kumar D, General Secretary for the Associated Management of Elementary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka (KAMS) and Convenor of Karnataka Private School Management, Teaching and Non-Teaching Coordinating Committee (KPMTCC), commented on the recurring controversy every year. He asked why question paper was not effectively restricted. “In the past, the pupils stood in photocopy shops for poured -out papers and searches youtube channels. It seems that a group of long -time players is behind it. There seems to be a connection in which certain schools, coaching centers, private tutorials and some compromised civil servants are involved, ”he noted.
