Colorado Bureau of Investigations Director in retirement in May

Lakewood, Colorado (KKTV) – The director of the Colorado Bureau of Investigations plans to retire after an independent examination.

This investigation was carried out after allegations on which the CBI director Chris Shaefer preferred a CBI employee who used a breed bag on a body camera.

According to CBI, the employment questions/Mark Flynn Investigations Group (Emfig) carried out the investigation in accordance with the application of the Colorado Department of Public Safety.

The CBI said that Emfig had not found any evidence that they revealed any kind of preferred treatment, but they found evidence that the employee used the slur. The CBI said the employee was disciplined.

The CBI said that several other allegations against Schaefer have appeared, but the independent examination showed that all of these allegations had no earnings.

“As the appointment of the director Schaefer, I checked the information in the four of the (EM/FIG) contained and determined every problem that it was unfounded or not maintained, and I conclude that there was no wrong execution of the director in each of the matters,” said Hilkey, Hilkey, in the attached memo.

After completing these examinations, Schaefer announced his retirement. The CBI said Schaefer will retire on May 2.
