Walz criticizes Trump's tariffs on the first day of new politics

Cannon Falls, Minn. (Gray) – The governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, visited a farm in Cannon Falls, Minnesota on Tuesday, to illustrate the effects of the Trump administration on the state's agricultural industry.

The governor and the members of his administration condemned the new trade policy and said that it would probably have negative financial effects on farmers across the state.

The state's agricultural industry often imports things like potash and cattle across the border. MN farm commissioner Thom Petersen said that the costs of obtaining these objects will probably be higher with the tariffs.

“Not every farmer will see the effects of it immediately. It depends on your company, but with fuel and fertilizer when you are in the pork industry, if you export corn, you will see what you tell us four to eight dollars a morning, ”said Petersen.

In one post for the social truth, President Trump defended his action and said that farmers and others who buy domestically do not have to worry about tariffs.

President Trump is in truth social: “For the great farmers of the United States: get ready to sell a lot of agricultural products in the United States. The tariffs will go on an external product on April 2nd. Have fun!”(Truth social)

Some farmers say that the expectation is difficult. According to the Lundells, which the Walz farm own on Tuesday, the potash you use is produced exclusively in Canada.

“We are a global economy. I mean, you can not only concentrate on the interior in the USA. This is simply not realistic in today's world, ”said Mary Lundell.

The visit of Walz and the beginning of the new tariffs come just a few days before the upcoming budget forecast of the state in February.

When asked whether the tariffs are included, Walz said no.

Instead, he plans to advise the legislator in the coming months to adapt the budget budget accordingly.

“From a legislative point of view, I think I will practice a revised budget from our perspective in a few weeks. After that, we have to take into account that the economic situation has changed dramatically and that according to all indicators a rather massive downturn, ”said the governor.

Walz said before the new year that they had projected a marginal economic growth of around 3-4%. This number in the first quarter has changed by around 7%since then.
