Ole Miss student Mary Kate Cornet's father opens up on viral rumors

A family lawyer and the father of the Ole Miss student, who was involved in a bizarre and supposedly wrong rumor that spread like a forest online online life, has been turned up on how Mary Kate Cornett's life was turned up since the relentless claim was published.

Cornett is said to have received death threats and has been done after a rumor about her sleep with her friend's father was posted on X and became viral.

The 18 -year -old Cornett and her friend Evan Solis (19) both denied the allegations in posts on social media, and Cornett's father Justin said that both the local and the federal authorities examined what happened.

Justin told the Daily Mail that the law enforcement authorities “were busy in the process and make progress” to track down who will raise the claims online.

But the entire situation asked the student to tribute.

“She didn't look for this attention and that is pretty unfair. It was very difficult for us to have a normal life, ”her father told the outlet.

The family's lawyer, Monica Uddin, described it as the “strange consequence of technology today” and emphasized how the rumor of social media would have come around the campus, but would not have influenced Cornett's real life.

“Nowadays it can be on Twitter or Tikkok or whatever a trend,” said Uddin. “But even beyond, people can create fake photos and pictures and for the average person who scrolls when they see something that looks like it is a confirmation, nobody stops and asking questions – they just believe and they go on.

“Or worse, you don't think about it and you keep talking about it, and some sports media figures have done that.”

ESPN previously rejected the post and barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy that his company had spoken about it in an explanation on one of his platforms.

Uddin explained that Campus Security Cornett said that it was not certain for her to take courses at the University of Mississippi, and that she received death threats and published her mobile phone number and address online.

“She received the most disgusting news that you can imagine,” said the lawyer.

While the perpetrator or the culprits seemed behind the online defamation, Uddin seemed to indicate that it was only a matter of time until they were discovered.

“I think many of them are not so clever to disguise their identity as they believe,” he said.

In an explanation on her Instagram account, Cornett scored the rumor and beat the ones who spread it as “very open and unused that such disruptive allegations became viral”.
