Five snack bars from the granular victory of UVA basketball against Florida State

The men's basketball team in Virginia Cavaliers ended his regular season in John Paul Jones Arena with a victory over the Seminoles of the State Florida on Tuesday evening. The 10 points of the Wahoos in the last 2:54 games of the game and a particularly timely Andrew Rohde Triple made the difference when the team moved to 15-15 (8-11 in the ACC) a year.

With the victory, before the regular season finale in Syracuse, we have five snack bars for the Cavaliers on Saturday.

Andrew Rohde comes up

Too many close games against Florida Sate in JPJ came to the last second watches from the seminols that found themselves through the tire. On Tuesday, Andrew Rohde's Summer Beater made the difference for UVA with 59 seconds.

When the shooting clock put a little more than a minute in front of it, Blake Buchanan fed a fading raw in the corner. Rohde was a symbol of the attitude with which he played in the ACC game, and gathered the passport and left the ball on the shooting clock with only 0.4 seconds.

His heroic shot finally left the HOOS excited at 58-55. Clutch Free Throw shooting by Dai Dai Ames, an intelligent foul by Rohde in the last seconds, and the sticky defense of the following game brought Virginia the three-point victory.

Rohdes 17-point performance is another meaningful moment for the impressive bounce back season of the junior. After fighting a lot in Charlottesville in his first season, he was one of the best players from UVA this year.

“He doesn't live in the rearview mirror of his mistakes,” said Ron Sanchez after the game. “He is a good player and should be a confident player.”

Rohde's teammates are happy to see how he channeled this self -confidence this season.

“To hear about the fights that Rohde had last year and to see how he entered our point Guard, our leader on the floor, it was just good to see that for him,” said Elijah Saunders after the victory.

Uva rides close rotation against the deep bank of the FSU

Five UVA players registered at least 30 minutes on Tuesday evening. Only one seminole in Florida State played more than 29.

In typical Leonard Hamilton fashion, the FSU tried to carry the Hoos with its deep bank. To counteract this, Sanchez actually shrank his rotation and ran on his five starters in Rohde, Saunders, Ames, Buchanan and Isaac McKney.

Since the beginning of Tony Bennett -ära, Uva has tended to shorten his bank in March. Sanchez can apply this approach. The reserves of the Cavaliers scored zero points and only registered 26 minutes. In the meantime, the McKney team (36 minutes), Ames (37 minutes) and Rohde (38 minutes) played the entire competition.

“We wanted to play our best ball handling group,” said Sanchez Postgame. “We only needed that today. You need people against this pressure who can make decisions and make plays. The boys who were on the floor were the boys who have the skills. ”

It is worth watching the ACC tournament and potential games over two days whether this was a game in view of the type of defensive length of the state of Florida or a sign of a developing trend.

The 'Hoos are still alive to earn an bye in the ACC tournament

There is an absolute group of teams that fight nine to fifteen for seeds in the ACC tournament next week. The victory in Virginia against the State Florida means that the Cavaliers are still in the race for the nine seeds and that a goodbye is over on the first day of the campaign in Charlotte.

The HOOS most likely have to win against Syracuse on Saturday to earn them. Even if you do it, the view of having to play Duke (should the Blue Devils win No. 1 seed) an imposing. Perhaps the Hoos would have a better shot if they would run by avoiding a matchup with John Scheyer's world operator. Or maybe the additional day of rest would be what gives you more advantage.

In both cases, the games will determine on Saturday how soon the Cavaliers in Charlotte will stop.

The coaching search in Virginia is very in progress

This was undoubtedly a feeling for the Wahoo players and the Wahoo employees. The way the team gathered to avoid the collapse collapsed in a difficult year was impressive. However, reality is still committed to the future of the program.

According to Matt Norlander's reporting for CBS Sports, the search company that works for UVA to hire the next head coach of the program has “in contact with several candidates”. According to Norlander VCU head coach Ryan Odom and New Mexicos Rich Pitino, this includes.

Both Odom and Pitino had real success this season. VCU heads the Atlantic 10 conference, while New Mexico is the first at the Mountain West conference. According to the UVA, the UVA will also have around 7 million US dollars in zero and sales participation to attract players in the portal, possibly bring some current players back and reach the high school trail.

Of course, that doesn't have much to do with this game. But here is the program with a game in the regular season.

Thank you for reading these last four years, people

Instead of a fifth snack, I would like to thank you that you have read my work over the HOOS in the past four years. This was my last game that personally covered Virginia basketball before I finished in May. Although I don't go somewhere anywhere immediately, I won't be on the consistent UVA basketball beat after this season.

Covering Virginia basketball in these last four seasons was an absolute privilege, and it would not have been possible without reading our work here. I still remember STL Alum Caroline Darney, who picked me up from my sleeping home in the first year to get me to Uva's season start against Navy in 2021. The cover of the team up close was something special, and since then it has remained every game.

Writing about this program from the press section was a great highlight of my time on the premises. Thank you, as always, that you were ridden with us and the lawn was painted to play a role in your Wahoo Fandom.
