Suspect dead

Bakersfield, California (KBAK/KBFX) – A suspect is dead after a shootout on Tuesday evening during an examination of a suspected abuse incident in East Bakersfield.

Around 6:30 p.m. on March 4, 2025, the MEPs of the Sheriff's Office of the Kern County answered Virginia Avenue Park in Virginia Avenue 2022 at around 6:30 p.m. to contact the suspect involved in the investigation.

Shortly after her arrival, an officer occurred who led to the suspect was declared dead at the crime scene. No MPs were injured in the incident.

Detectives have taken over the investigation and the identity of the suspect is published at a later date. The department stated that no further information would be published at this time, but would be made available after the examination.
