Five goats, six pigs die in Brussels barn fire

Dor County (NBC 26) Fünft died and six pigs died when the 75-year-old barn caught fire and burned to the ground in Door County on Tuesday evening, said firefighters.

Curt Vanderie, the head of the Brussels-Union-Gardner fire brigade (Bug Fire), said that the crews were sent to a barn in the Star Road in the city of Brussels shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters found smoke that devoured part of the barn and smoke that flocked from the structure.

First aiders and real estate owners saved several pigs, piglets and chickens from the fire, but the other goats and pigs died in the fire according to Chief Vanderie.

Firefighters took the flames off within 40 minutes and later moved parts of the metal roof of the barn with an excavator.

No people were injured and firefighters left the scene at 9 p.m.

The cause of the fire is being examined, but the boss noticed that it does not seem to be suspicious and that it started in an area of ​​the barn in which the owners kept heat lamps for baby goats.

The barn was built in 1940 and the owners had no insurance, according to Chief Vanderie.

The boss also informed the reporter of the neighborhood of Door County, Hanna Lopez, at the scene that the barn continued a total loss and the nearby house.

Fire brigades from the area of ​​Door County and beyond, from Sister Bay Liberty Grove to Denmark, assisted on site and an excavator from Sturgeon Bay, which also sent in the answer with the BUG -FIRE – of the 10 units and 29 firefighters.
