Gene Hackmans at home had “tiny” gas lick, which was not regarded as a factor for mysterious deaths

A Santa Fe gas company found a “tiny” leak in Gene Hackman and his wife's house in New Mexico – but it is not assumed that it was a contribution to her mysterious deaths.

Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa's lifeless bodies were discovered in their house in New Mexico in New Mexico last week when officials found that they showed “no external trauma”.

As a result, her death was suspended with many speculations, whereby early theories claimed that the couple might have died because of a gas leak – a theory that Hackman's daughter Elizabeth Jean immortalized, and said they could have been killed by “toxic”.

Since then, however, a local gas company has “confirmed that it has carried out a comprehensive examination of gas leaks and carbon monoxide and has“ no significant results ”, said the Santa Fe Sheriff department.

A small gas leak was discovered in one of the oven burners. The leak registered 0.33% gas in the air, which is not enough to be fatal.

The gas company added that they had published five “red tags”.

“The other four red tags were enforced against the enforcement of code – no gas leaks or carbon monoxide – on which a hot water and gas bread was installed in three fireplaces,” says a press release.

The two-time Oscar winner, 95, Arakawa and one of their three dogs were found in various rooms of the house. Arakawa's body was mummified and bloated.

It is believed that the couple was dead for at least nine days before the maintenance workers discovered their bodies, said Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza last week.

The last “event”, which was recorded on the pacemaker of the star “The French Connection”, was February 17th, the police said.

“According to the pathologist, I think that it is a good assumption that he was his last day of life,” Mendoza told reporters and explains that the date helps the authorities to create a timeline to determine what led to the tragic end of the couple.

There were “no obvious signs of foul,” he said.

According to a search order, the officers stumbled on a prescription pills bottle with pills that were scattered by the room in which Arakawa and one of the couple's dogs were discovered.

They also found two mobile phones, two bottles of medication and a bottle of Tylenol. It is unclear whose medication it was.

Toxicology and other autopsy results are still pending and the examination has not yet been completed.
