Maine sees an increase in the springs temperatures and reflects the national warming trend

Portland (WGME) – Spring warms up nationwide, also in Maine.

Climate Central, a non-profit organization of scientists and journalists, found that 97% of the 241 US cities, which they analyzed, saw the heat of spring. The average increase in temperature (March – May) is 2.4 degrees.

In the United States, Climate Central found that the southwest had seen the greatest warming since 1970.

The southwest was heated by an average temperature of 3.4 degrees, while the southeast increased by 2.5 degrees.

At home in Maine, Portland has had an average temperature rise of 2.2 degrees since 1970.

Bangor also recorded an average temperature rise.

The upper spring heat locations included Reno, Nevada, 6.8 degrees and el Paso, Texas, with an increase of 6.4 degrees.

So far, the seasonal temperature average for meteorological spring in Portland is 23.6 degrees.

The normality for March, April and May together is 44.5 degrees.

Other unusually warm spring days are on the road, similar to the temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday across the state.

Portland recorded 14 additional temperature days at this time of year.

80% of all analyzed locations saw at least 7 other warm spring days.
