Mold bread, cockroaches, unsafe food handling found in the Südflorida bakery

Lauderdale Lakes, Fla. – Sandy's Bakery in 3429 W. Oakland Park BLVD. After a recently carried out inspection by the Ministry of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Florida, Lauderdale Lakes is examined in Florida, which have resulted in considerable violations of food safety.

In the inspection carried out on March 4, 2025, 27 violations were found to pose serious risks to public health, including insect infestation, improper food stores and unsanitary diseases.

According to the inspection report for food safety, cockroaches living in the kitchen were found, especially around the REACH-in coolers.

Due to this infestation, a stop use and sales order was granted, whereby the bakery had to fix the problem immediately before the business was resumed.

The inspection revealed several violations that could contribute to food diseases. Some of the most serious results are:

*Mold-contaminated food: Bread near the food service area was found with mold-like substances and voluntarily thrown away.

*Improper storage of raw meat: raw chicken was stored by raw fish, and raw shell eggs were laid over referential foods, which increased the risk of cross contamination. These items were either rejected or shifted.

*Uncertain food temperatures: Several temperature -sensitive foods have not been kept in safe levels. Raw meat, turkey and fish were stored in a cooling cooler at 46-50 ° F, which exceeded the required 41 ° F limit. In addition, the Empanada mixture and the cow foot were found on the steam table at unsafe temperatures, which led to voluntary disposal.

*Improper disinfectant practices: An employee was observed before use without proper disinfection. In addition, a kitchen mixer with crusted food residues was found from the previous day, which led to a stop order for the equipment.

The bakery lacked a legally prescribed certified food protection manager for employees.

The cooler of the backroom cooler could not maintain the required temperature, which led to a further order order.

Shelf units and kitchen surfaces had excessive fat and food waste.

A new inspection is planned for March 18, 2025, in which Sandy's bakery must demonstrate the complete compliance with the regulations on food safety. If there are violations, the bakery could be exposed to fines, other operational restrictions or even suspension.
